Karl Marx’s Historical Materialism

Capitalist societies: In this stage, capitalism became the dominant mode of production, characterized by private ownership of the means of production and the exploitation of workers who do not own the means of production.

Socialist societies: In this stage, socialism becomes the dominant mode of production, characterized by public ownership of the means of production and the elimination of social classes.

Marx believed that each stage of history is marked by a particular class struggle, as the ruling class seeks to maintain its power and the exploited class struggles for liberation. He argued that the contradictions and conflicts within each mode of production would eventually lead to its downfall and the emergence of a new mode of production.
